"One Proud Rican" relaxed on the beach yesterday.
In case you haven't noticed the increasing presence of the other red, white and blue flags through out the week reminding us all of this annual early June festive event, today is the Puerto Rican Day Parade in NYC.

I was in Prospect Park on Saturday, and there were a lot of pre-parade-day festivities. One huge family BBQ near the bandshell included a real "drum circle"...one highly skilled conguero (his drums decked out with the colors of the PR flag), and about ten widely varied friends & relatives with various percussion instruments, right down to 6 year old kids. Sounded fantastic...I really wanted to get a pic of that conga set, but sadly Mr. Camera was at home that day.
