Angelique Kidjo had Brooklyn on their feet at Brooklyn Center Saturday night.

The Beninese four-time Grammy winner Angelique Kidjo roused Brooklynites to their feet stage as she brought her Afro-pop rythyms and soulful voice to the Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts last night. Ms. Kidjo makes her home here in Brooklyn. Unfortunately, the title of Brooklynite of the Week has already been given to Mae West. But after last night's performance I realize the Angelique Kidjo deserves an honorable mention in this category.

Ms. Kidjo performed songs from her new albom Djin Djin including Rolling stones cover Gimme Shelter as well as many of the crowd's old favorites. Half way through the show she dance her way through the audience exchanging hugs and one on one dances with her fans.

When Kidjo returned to the stage she brought with her a good portion of the audience including a dozen or so pre-teen girls who performed a spontaneous dance-off to the rythym of Kidjo's very talented percussionist, Ibrahim Diagne.

Angelique Kidjo is an outstanding all-around performer. for more about her and her music visit her website at the link provided below.
